“Simon was an excellent listener, building space for reflection and helping me take thoughts through to deeper conclusions than I would usually. He also opened up new ways of approaching problems, by careful questioning and challenging the assumptions I was bringing to the situation.”

  • “I am a warm and welcoming person who cares deeply about what life is like for other people. One of the things I find most fulfilling is really connecting with people, personally and professionally”

Simon holds an MSci in Physics and Philosophy from the University of Bristol. Study of these disciplines underpins the systems thinking and critical thinking approaches that he has found to be effective in the professional sphere. He also holds an MA in Human Rights from the School of Advanced Study at the University of London. This reinforced Simon’s commitment to seeing and valuing every person as an individual, and set him on a career path supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

As Simon progressed into leadership roles in large charities, he found that his natural kindness and open-mindedness transferred well to working with staff teams. He noticed that considering teams and organisations as interacting systems is a powerful way to improve business processes. Simon took this blended approach of systems thinking and interpersonal warmth with him into his coaching practice and his senior management roles.

As a coach for managers and executives, Simon works across a multitude of sectors, aiming to bring a variety of perspectives and approaches to coaching. In the private sector Simon’s clients include start-ups and multinational firms working in areas including communications, architecture and fintech. Simon also works with leaders in local and regional government bodies, the civil service, and the charity sector.

Simon shares a home in London with his husband, and teaches Aikido, a Japanese martial art. Simon is an Affiliate member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and works in line with the EMCC Global Code of Ethics.

  • Coaching consists primarily of one-to-one sessions, just client and coach, in person or online as needed. Sessions with Simon provide a place where work is discussed, in confidence, with a trained professional whose agenda is to get you where you want to be. If you work for an organisation, coaching sessions are a place where you can think, feel and speak completely freely, providing a unique environment for safely developing the boundaries of your abilities. If you work independently or you are interested in career coaching, sessions with Simon give you a trusted ally: we can embark together on an exploration of where you want your working life to go and how to get there.

Simon works with both new and established leaders to better understand themselves and to improve their workplace practice, results and wellbeing. He creates a coaching environment where confidentiality and kindness encourage openness and reflection, and where respectful and robust challenge aids real progress towards his clients’ coaching goals. By coaching at a level that is deeper and more meaningful than just goal setting and action mapping, Simon’s clients experience shifts in long-standing obstacles to truly excelling at work.

As one of Simon’s clients, the aim is for you to leave coaching better equipped to embrace the challenges of your current role and situation, and as a more developed professional for the rest of your career and life. The organisations that Simon’s clients work for benefit from improvements in their ability to take up their leadership roles most fully and effectively, unlocking their maximum potential for solving business problems.
